When can I use the PPSR?
The Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) is highly available. It can generally be accessed online seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
At a regular time every week the PPSR is unavailable due to maintenance. There may also be times that the PPSR is not available due to technical issues or other factors.
Scheduled outages
National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) outage - Sunday 11 May 2025.
The National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) has a planned outage on Sunday 11 May 2025 from 5:00 am to 11:00 am (Canberra time).
NEVDIS data is intended to assist PPSR users with checking that the VIN or Chassis Number they entered is accurate. Users can also view any data held on NEVDIS about a vehicle’s stolen or written-off status. A reminder that NEVDIS data is not always available or up-to-date when you do a search of a motor vehicle on the PPSR.
During this outage:
- PPSR searches using a VIN or Chassis will not include NEVDIS information.
- PPSR registrations using a VIN or Chassis will not include NEVDIS information.
Please note: The absence of NEVDIS data from a PPSR search certificate or verification certificate does not affect the data on the PPSR in relation to security interests. The PPSR does not provide refunds when NEVDIS data is not available or up-to-date. To obtain the NEVDIS data, a search of the PPSR by serial number at another time may provide that information.
Routine maintenance
The PPSR undergoes scheduled maintenance every Wednesday evening.
Start: 9:00pm (Canberra time)
End: 11:59pm (Canberra time)
The PPSR is unavailable during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) availability
ASIC performs daily system maintenance between 4:00am and 4:30am (Canberra time).
During ASIC maintenance:
- ASIC verification may be intermittently unavailable or slow
- PPSR searches using ASIC identifiers may not return associated names
- PPSR registrations using ASIC identifiers may not include associated names on verification statements.
The absence of the name associated with the ASIC identifier from a PPSR search certificate or verification statement does not affect document validity. No refunds will be issued in these cases.

Unscheduled unavailability
If the PPSR is unavailable due to an unscheduled outage the Registrar will advise through a message on the PPSR website homepage.
